20 Years of Medical Studies in English (Video)
20 years ago, with the intention of internationalising studies and in the period of the expectation of Croatia’s joining the EU, the University of Zagreb School of Medicine opened the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate University Studies in Medicine in English Language – Medical Studies in English, MSE (2003/2004 academic year).
This is the first such study programme in the Republic of Croatia which was additionally recognized by the Certificate for Quality in Internationalisation by the European Consortium for Accreditation.
The 20th anniversary of the MSE was celebrated by a special gathering held on 13 October 2023 at the Čačković Hall, School of Medicine. The MSE students and alumni were welcomed by Davor Miličić, FCA, Prof. Boris Brkljačić, MD, PhD, Prof. Davor Ježek, MD, PhD, and Assoc. Prof. Mirza Žižak, MD, PhD as well Boris Vilić from the Association of Croatian American Professionals (ACAP).
The MSE alumni, now reputable doctors Sofia Sundin, Sandra Hrnčić, Abdelkarim Al-Jabiri, Lea Bach, Brian Melamed, Nikolas Nozica, and Monika Crumbach spoke, either in person or via video-link, about their experiences.
Future plans regarding clinical rotations and alumni meetings were presented by Ms Dagmar Štafa, MSE Student Office – Rebro.
After the official programme, the MSE students and alumni enjoyed a commemorative pub quiz.
